It started out in 2005 with a few hundred attendees, and now has grown to be the premier literary event in the Hamptons with 100 authors and over 2000 people in attendance. The 11th Annual Authors Night was held in a lavish tent at Gardiner Farm on Maidstone Lane in East Hampton. For book lovers this is the best event of the season, which draws literati and glitterati from all over. The publishers donate all books; and authors donate their time, with all proceeds going directly to the East Hampton Library.
The evening began with the Authors Book Signing, where the writers sit at tables in alphabetical order, with piles of books stacked in front of them. Attendees walk around and meet and mingle with the authors, purchase their books, and have them personally inscribed. Cocktail Reception under the tent, where guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and wine and had the opportunity to meet and mingle with the authors, buy their books, and have them personally inscribed.
The evening’s Founding Honorary Co-Chairs Alec Baldwin and Barbara Goldsmith were joined by 2015 Honorary CoChairs Ed Burns, Robert A. Caro, Dick Cavett, Tom Clavin, Nelson DeMille, Christina Baker Kline, and Lynn Sherr.
PARTICIPATING AUTHORS INCLUDE: Jonathan Adler, Arlene Alda, David Browne, Ed Burns, Robert Caro, Dick Cavett, Simon Doonan, Florence Fabricant, Tracey Jackson, Katie Lee, Fern Mallis, Wednesday Martin, Charlotte Moss, Marc Murphy, Allison Pataki, Michael Shnayerson, Stephanie Smith, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, and Paul Williams
Afterwards, many of the guests dispersed to various homes throughout the Hamptons for private dinners with the authors.
