Once again, blue skies and bright sunshine welcomed riders, spectators, and horses to opening day of the 40th Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton NY. The “Classic” is one of the most prestigious horse shows in the nation and features competitors at every level from young children to Olympic veterans, culminating in the Classic's feature event, the $250,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix.
As always, on Opening Day, you will probably find the tensest competition all week on the beautiful grass of the Grand Prix Ring...the infamous Hampton Classic “Leadline”. Dozens upon dozens of ponies parade their riders, judged by Olympic Gold medalist Joe Fargis, while their proud parents and grandparents watch nervously from the V.I.P. tents. The Leadline features riders as young as 3 yrs. old.
The Hampton Classic this year, features six show rings, a Boutique Garden with more than 70 vendors, and a wide selection of dining options and a Farmer's Market, all on its 60-acre show grounds. With its top competition and pristine setting, The Hampton Classic is not just a place to see, it's also a place to be seen. In the past two years, A-list celebrities such as Jerry Seinfeld, Jennifer Lopez, Billy Joel, Jon Bon Jovi, Matt Lauer, Kelly Ripa, Julianne Moore, Sofia Vergara and Mary-Kate Olsen have been spotted enjoying the competition from the sidelines.
The Hampton Classic hosts more than 100 classes of competition for horses and riders of all ages and abilities.
